ABOUT US
While lawyers have a vast knowledge of the law and expertise in their fields of practice, a consultant with a deep grasp of the practice of medicine can save time and money. A knowledge of which medical journal and current medical treatment is most appropriate for a particular case can help the attorney to focus on the medical legal issues most pertinent to the case. A MD with decades of experience brings comprehension far beyond that of a nurse or paraprofessional.
Med-Legal –Services offers expertise in research and consulting for attorneys with medically related cases or potential cases. We work with and for attorneys by providing the medical expertise of a medical doctor to review medical records and research the medical-legal issues of the case. We have a passion for this work and can help attorneys by evaluating the strength or weakness of potential cases from a medical point of view.
We serve only as consultants, researchers, and analysts and do not testify as expert witnesses. This allows us to review material and make recommendations for much lower costs than would generally be incurred by hiring expert physicians. In this way, attorneys have access to an expert medical review by a physician to evaluate the merits of the case prior to embarking upon expensive pretrial preparation. We can determine whether a case has merit based on medical negligence, or sub-standard care versus cases where unfortunate medical results occurred despite reasonable medical diligence. Med-Legal-Services have even consulted on cases by searching literature to show that an opposing witness greatly exaggerated the number and prestige of published studies listed in a curriculum vitae. We are readily available and responsive to our clients needs.
